Rather than debating...
Really, who hasn't indulged in all the "actually-religions-are-all-the-same", "religions-brainwash-you", "which-is-the-best-one" debates?
Much as I such discourse usually psychs me up (excited? nervous? troubled?), I have to say that it doesn't get people anywhere closer to knowing what the gospel is, or what the Bible says.
You can argue till the cows come home and howl at the moon but
1. Such debates don't change their preconceptions of God,
2. They don't hear the "gospel" as it's meant to be - "the good news".
So rather than debate with you, let's just hear what the Bible says first, ok?

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."" (John Chapter 14 verse 6)
Jesus is the truth... sounds really profound...
I'd say it means he is the true way to the Father (just a few verses up Jesus and the disciples are talking about how to go to God's house - and we know that means forgiveness & reconciliation)
Also, in St Paul's letters he talks about how the 'mystery' of God (since the past)is finally revealed through Jesus - that Jesus is the way through which God forgives us and reconciles Man to himself, so Jesus IS that truth, the messiah, the suffering servant, the Son prophesised abt in the Old Testament...

I think it's something SO MUCH MORE profound.
We often think of truth as some abstract proposition, something carved out in stone (in some timesnewroman-esque font), contained in some book we can whip out when we need guidance or direction.
but Jesus, a flesh-and-blood Jew, calls Himself The Truth.
Which means meaning and reality are found in a Man. Truth don't float around professors' minds. Truth lived and breathed here once. Truth ate fish and broke bread. Truth drank wine. Truth died on a cross. Truth rose from the dead.
Truth ISN'T just a way to God. It is God.
